Nabi Biopharmaceuticals is a company focused on developing vaccines and antibody-based products to prevent and treat infectious and addictive diseases, such as staph aureus, hepatitis B and nicotine addiction. The company's corporate headquarters and main manufacturing facilities are in Boca Raton, Florida. Paramount Industries was prescribed for lighting the additional warehouse freezer space that they recently constructed.

The electrical contracting in this new storage area was handled by Proton Electric. They needed to find a lighting system that could start well in extremely low temperatures. The freezer maintains a constant -35°F. Proton turned to Steve Kosowsky at Power & Lighting Systems in Deerfield Beach.

Steve proposed using the H9 Series Cube Lite from Paramount Industries in Croswell, MI. This compact surface-mount luminaire features Sylvania's ICETRON electrode-less fluorescent lamp.

The ICETRON is a 100 watt lamp and ballast system with a color temperature of 4100K. It is mostly known for its very long rated life of 100,000 hours, which reduces maintenance costs. It also starts as low as -40°F.

The very low temperature starting capability and the long life are a winning combination for the Nabi project. The lights are on 24/7 in an environment that makes frequent light maintenance impractical.

The Cube Lites were installed on the 20ft high ceiling, centered over the aisles between racks. Since the chillers were turned on, the lights have performed flawlessly. Nabi and Proton have been pleased with the results.
